Featuring Special Guest Jose Altuvé
We are delighted to welcome Jose Altuvé, a native Venezuelan, as our special guest. He exemplifies both hard work and generosity and, despite many years far from his country, has never forgotten people in need in Venezuela, especially the children.
During the luncheon, guests will have the pleasure of enjoying a candid interview of Mr. Altuvé about a range of topics and will also have the opportunity to learn about and contribute to the important work of the Cuatro Por Venezuela Foundation. The luncheon will also feature a silent auction for a variety of items. Finally, there will be a VIP reception before the luncheon, where certain sponsors and their guests will have the opportunity to meet and take a photo with Jose Altuvé.
Background
Venezuela is suffering a severe socio-economic crisis, marked by hyperinflation as well as rising hunger, disease, death rates, and massive emigration from the country. The severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies have affected all Venezuelans. Patients in need of medications cannot find them. Hospitals, public and private, must routinely turn away people, including those in emergencies. Hunger is widespread and devastating. Almost seventy-five percent of the population has lost an average of 19 pounds, and more than half of the population cannot afford their basic food needs.
Why Cuatro Por Venezuela?
Cuatro Por Venezuela is working to combat these statistics and to provide much needed humanitarian aid throughout Venezuela through programs and partnerships. With more than 180 non-governmental organizations in Venezuela, the Foundation has been able to deliver more than 90,000 pounds of medicine and food to people in need in almost every state in Venezuela.
How Do I Attend?
Grand Slam for Venezuela promises to be a very special event showcasing the best of Venezuela for a most worthy cause: helping Venezuelans in need by raising funds for humanitarian relief for the country. We hope to see you on August 28th.
